Based on a true story. A death that should not have happened, and a God who becomes a casino: “a house that always wins, and never talks.”
The line
"I know what God is now / God is odds."
Kat on singing it
"After that I felt the pain of it. I felt the anger at God for letting it happen."
Lyrics
I put my question to the Father
The kind you only ask alone
For years He never spared an answer
For all the evenings on the phone
Then came my love in through the doorway
With all his kindness, all his calm
He took the burden from my fingers
The way he'd always taken harm
And they call this providence
They call this grace
The wrong soul summoned
In the right soul's place
I know what God is now
God is odds
A house that always wins
And never talks
They say He watches every sparrow
They say He numbers every hair
Then He was watching when it happened
And He stayed sitting in His chair
And they call this providence
They call this grace
The wrong soul summoned
In the right soul's place
I know what God is now
God is odds
A house that always wins
And never talks
(he settled my account in full)
(and I still owe)
(he settled my account in full)
(and I still owe)
And they call this providence
They call this grace
The wrong soul summoned
In the right soul's place
I know what God is now
God is odds
(somebody has to hold the light)
A house that always wins
And never talks
(somebody has to hold the light)
